Getting There
Ruaha National Park is located 130km from Iringa and 600km West from the capital Dar es Salaam.
It is possible to drive from Iringa and Dar es Salaam but allow a full days drive from Dar and 2hrs from Iringa in the dry season.
The best way to travel to Ruaha is by light aircraft (a Cessna Caravan that can seat between 9 and 14 passengers)
Baobab Reisen and Safari Ruaha are happy to arrange your inland flights with our partner airlines: Safari Air Link, Coastal Aviation and Auric Air.
Flight time is appx 2hrs from Dar es Salaam, depending if flying via Iringa, Mikumi or the Selous.
Be aware that it is likely, depending on other passengers destinations, that you may land at Mikumi or the Selous en route to or from Ruaha.
But that just adds to the Safari experience and allows you to have a glimpse of the other National Parks.
Landing at Msembe you will be met by your 4WD transport and guide and after a quick registration at park Headquarters the airport transfer to your Lodge is the start of your Safari and wildlife viewing experience. The journey to the river Lodge in particular, is amongst the best airport transfers in the World!
Your gateway International Airport to Tanzania is either Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar or Kilimanjairo with regular flights from Europe and The Middle East.
Recommended are Swiss & Emirates, BA & KLM and other options include Qatar, Turkish, Kenya Airways & Ethiopian Airlines.
